The School District of Manatee County is pleased to announce the second year of the eTech School of Manatee. For the 2012 / 13 school year and beyond, we have again partnered in a franchise with the Florida Virtual School to create the eTech School of Manatee.  This online program will allow students to register for up to four virtual middle and/or high school courses if currently attending a Manatee County School and up to six classes if home schooled. This program is designed to meet virtually every possible scenario for students and parents.

Overview

The
eTech School of Manatee County is a student/parental choice program for grades 6 through 12 students whose primary residence is Manatee County, Florida. This progressive choice program is providing expanded educational services to a wider student community for anywhere, anytime learning.

The
eTech School of Manatee is a rigorous educational choice which will ensure that your student receives a “world class” instruction – all online. Each course is written at or above grade level standards which requires one to two hours of focused study on a daily basis to complete within the traditional semester time frame. eTech courses engage students in real-life projects, requiring the use of critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to apply the knowledge they have acquired.

Students in grades 6-12 who are enrolled in private schools, charter schools and traditional public schools may enroll in part time virtual school. Homeschoolers may enroll part or fulltime. Interested students or their parents should contact the
eTech office or their school Guidance Counselor for further information.

Last year,
eTech serviced over 750 Manatee County and Home Schooled students. The following are a few of the reasons student took an eTech virtual class:
  • Class size too large
  • Class not offered at the school (AP, Advanced, Honors)
  • Student athletes training for or currently professional in various athletic or artistic endeavors
  • Hospital homebound
  • Advanced Studies
  • Credit Recovery
  • Early Graduation
  • OJT Scheduling
  • Mental Health Issues
